When I think about a Service I always think about something that can run even independently from the user being logged in or not. Is this the case? If not, can we achieve something like that? Thank you.
So, if I well understand, if I want to have the Everything Server running as a service I have to give up with the GUI. In that case, the Everything Server will run only while the Everything app is actively run by at least one logged user on the server machine, is that right?
My actual configuration, be aware that it is best used with menu folders (close Everything then edit Everything.ini: search for "menu_folders"; if found be sure that it is set as menu_folders=1 else insert the whole new entry; modify the file Bookmarks.csv; start Everything again, enjoy menu)
Once a time I asked David for a similar question (just for removable hardware, not for remote drives)
Q:
I have an usb pen FAT32 formatted, so I add it to Everything as a folder. Sometimes, if there are already other usb drive attached, that pen get a different drive letter.
Thank you dear, not so bad a GUI showing information already stored somewhere into Windows.
Anyway, implementing it into Everything could be even more powerful and more confortable (having one interface only). For example you could see recently deleted files + realtime refresh + filtering.
When I export results into a file list then filesize is missing (empty field).
If I create a file list through editor (add folder) then filesize is available.
It is a bug or am I missing something?
EDIT: UHM... I found it... I was missing Read Extended Information step...
Ok, ok, look at this (I want you know that I studied and put into practice some of your previous teachings)
Search for M: (to get an exhaustive list of all files in volume M:) Export (to file list) Open File List (to work only on items contained in M:) namepartdupe:file:ext:mp4;avi (WOOW! FINALLY ...
Uhm... I was wrong... I forget to mention that I don't know the file name in advance
#part1 I just want to find what filenames have the same name but a different extension (last .xxx part) Or at least I know two extensions (mp4 and avi) and I want to get as above.
Last time the debug was showing a STREAM_CHANGE as the cause of the rc status. Now that I can get rid of them thanks to the filter that you have implemented, I have found this
Options -> Indexes -> NTFS under Local NTFS volumes:
I can see that my external USB HDD drive is shown as
Offline Disk (M:)
so in some way Everything know that every file/folder whose path begin with M: is not available... so a function as offline: could easily return offline items ...
Ok... I have just verified what you mean: it will create subfolders. In my case I am very lucky anyway, no / in "bookmarks" title, but why do you speak about / in "filters" name also ? Their list is not affected, isn't it? Thanks
I have a lot of bookmarks, and the menu list is very long to scroll every time.
Could you let organize them into folders so that its length will be drastically reduced?
Thanks
I think that because Everything database contains information about specific files/folders I am particularly interested it could also be very useful in keeping track of what of them have been recently deleted (for example when you move a file instead of copying it, or a synchronization-software ...
