Really love Everything!
As the thread title suggests, how about making the notification tray icon more consistent with the default Windows 7/8 style (a little more white like those default icons?), so that Everything fits in the tray more natural.
Best wishes
Make the notification tray icon consistent with the System
Re: Make the notification tray icon consistent with the Syst
I hate homogenized.
I would much rather everything (err, & Everything too) stand-out, for what it is, to be different from anything else, to make easily detectible when I'm looking for it.
Anyhow, you can change the icon used.
Just place an (icon) file named 'Everything.ico' into the same directory as Everything.exe.
(Might require an Everything restart?)

I believe in choices. It's nice that a simple ico file could work this out.therube wrote:I hate homogenized.

I made myself an icon. Thank you for your help. Much appreciated.
Re: Make the notification tray icon consistent with the Syst
If you are using Everything 1.3 or later, copy your icon to:
If Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything is disabled, copy your custom icon file to Everything.ico in the same location as your Everything.exe.
Customizing the Everything Icon.
Code: Select all
%APPDATA%\Everything\Everything.ico
Customizing the Everything Icon.
Re: Make the notification tray icon consistent with the Syst
Hello,
Thanks for all your efforts. Dealing with the desires of different folks can often be arduous and far harder than coding.
I run Everything (709b) from a folder (not appdata) and notice that the additional icon I use shows as expected in the System Tray but the original (orange loupe on white sheet) shows on System Bar. Is there anyway for those to reconcile to show the additional icon? Thanks.

Re: Make the notification tray icon consistent with the Syst
Thank you.
The solution from the link seem to suggest help for the installed version. I use the non-installed version.
Strangely, both icons are the same for a brief moment on first use. After a reboot, the mismatch sticks.
