Exclude Folders - Options not being saved?

I'm using 1.3.4.686 (x64) on Windows 7.
My problem is - when I add folders to the 'Exclude Folders' option - hit Apply & OK, everything works perfectly. However if I close down 'Everything' and restart - all of my Exclude Folders are gone from the list? (The 'Exclude hidden files and folders' and 'Exclude system files and folders' options also un-tick themselves...?)

Am I doing something wrong or does 'Everything' not remember these settings from one session to the next?

Other then Excludes, if you make other Options changes, do they persist over a program restart?

Excludes should be recorded in Everything.ini.

I'd start by looking for multiple copies of Everything.ini.
(You can use Everything to search for that .)
Perhaps one within the %APPDATA% tree & one in Everything's instalDir?

Check to see if your Excludes show up in one or the other?


Are you using the Everything Service?
What OS? [Win7]
Are you running Everything with a privilege level other then what your User login is running as?

Hi thanks for the reply - I'm still not sure what the problem is, however I went in search on Everything.ini and have manually edited that with my Exclude list etc... and this seems to work, the changes are retained after a re-start.

It's not a perfect solution - but it works, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Please make sure "Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything" is enabled from Tools -> Options -> General.

Thanks Void... that seems to have been my problem.

Fabulous piece of software by the way - I've been using it for years, countless times a day... and it saves huge amounts of time when compared to the search in Windows...
