Only files larger than 1 GB?

Post by phototaker »

I have a SSD drive installed recently & only about 60GB had been used since I had or thought I had everything other then programs on other drives. Now the file size has grown to almost 200 GB.

I see that Everything is supposed to be able to specify a range of sizes, but I can't see how to enter these parameters. How is that done to say search 'C' drive & gigantic which it says is greater than 128MB. If so can you specify a larger operative like say 1 GB? I was thinking of starting withe extremely large files down & then going smaller & smaller.

Thanks in advance

Better try WizTree for this but if you want Everything then
size:>1gb

The things that use a lot of space are
1.The page file
2.The hibernation file
3.System Restore
4.Browsers cache
5.The installations for the installed windows updates

20 Days after installing windows 7 x64 SP1 Ultimate on my new 128gb ssd,I have only 20gb used(I rarely save on the ssd anyway)

e: size:>1gb

But yes, WizTree will be more efficient, at present.

If you first filter your results, then add the size:, it would be more efficient.

e: *.rar size:>100mb

That way it only has to pull the sizes of .rar files & filter those per the size: spec instead of reading all files.

Thanks for the replay.

One file that I found was the paging file which shows having 12GB. A few times recently I was running programs & got an 'out of memory' message. I thought the usual way to fix this was to increase virtual memory, & that this was normally kept on a separate drive. If this isn't so can I increase it & have it on a separate drive? Should I just delete this 12GB file?

Thanks in advance

Ever since Windows 7 came out I have been confused about library's. I wanted 'My Music', 'My Pictures' & 'My Documents' on another drive.

I thought that I had moved them correctly but I always have my doubts as to where the file really is located. This is in part because every other program appears to want to put a new file into these default folders but I don't think it really happens.

I can always find some things in the library's that I thought should be in my folder on another drive.

Since EVERYTHING can find anything, anywhere quickly & easily I was wondering if it's possible to eliminate them entirely & not have them appears in Windows tree at all. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance
