Efficient DM:filter

I am trying to tackle a problem on a file server that has 10 million + files. I am trying to efficiently see the file modified yesterday however it seems this filter has to talk to each file so this is no more efficient then any other file scanner.
Ideas on how to accomplish more efficiently what i am trying to do?
Since i am wanting everything i cant filter on any addition text to make it better.
