Allow users to create shortcut buttons on the menu bar

Post by mindstormer »

Allow users to create shortcut buttons on the menu bar. Clicking a button will open the user-specified path in the files explorer. This feature exists in a program called Find and Run Robot: http://i.imgur.com/vWjbI92.png

Why it is useful and not gimmicky for those who use Everything: often times, users may need to access files located deep in the file location, like: /New_folder(1)/New_folder(2)/New_folder(3)/New_folder(4)/New_folder(5)/New_folder(6)/New_folder(7)

If want to access files in New_folder(7), I might search for /New_folder(7), but files with similar names are displayed, though they are not in that specific folder. I find myself having to type New_folder(7), click "sort by path," then find a file that is in that exact path as opposed to file that is in a similar (but not exact) name of the folder, right-click "open path."

Also, is there a way to search for a file of a specific name? Let's say I want to search for:

"A.txt"

A.txt would show up, but so would "No A.txt" -- I want only "A.txt" to show up.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Everything Toolbar in the Taskbar

See what the -parents: function might do for you.

ww:A.TXT (there must not be any space between the colon & your search term)

I would like shortcuts to just focus on some path the search.
I use seven discs, a lot of partitions and folders ... a way to make a quick change in the search path would be helpful

What I have done is to create a Filter for some of my more used searches.
I even have one named C:, which simply searches my C: drive & no others.

Now I could do a search of: C: search_term, but instead of manually entering the C: each time, I simply choose the Filter, C: then only needing to enter my search_term.

Search | Add to Filters...
