I recently updated to V1.3.4.686 on a Win7 system. It seems like it is updating the search results in real time. In the older versions it would search the disk when the app was started.
Is that correct? That is, the search results are updated in real time?
If so, can I make it stop doing that?
The problem is that some app on my system is creating and deleting a file, over and over, so that the search results are jumping up and down as the file is added and removed.
I don't know which app and which file but the jumping up and down is painful. You get ready to click on some entry and it moves up or down. Grrrr......

Searching different with V1.3.4.686
Re: Searching different with V1.3.4.686
Both Everything 1.3 and Everything 1.4 should update in real-time.
To disable real-time updating:
You will need to re-enable monitoring to update the indexes or click the Force Rebuild in Tools -> Options -> Indexes.
To detect the filename that is being created and deleted over and over again:
To disable real-time updating:
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the NTFS tab.
- For each NTFS volume:
- Uncheck Monitor changes.
- Click OK.
You will need to re-enable monitoring to update the indexes or click the Force Rebuild in Tools -> Options -> Indexes.
To detect the filename that is being created and deleted over and over again:
- In Everything, from the View menu, from the Sort by menu, click Date recently changed.
- The file that is being created and deleted will be shown at the top of the result list.
Re: Searching different with V1.3.4.686
Thanks for that info. Explains a lot!
I was using v1.2 before updating to 1.3
I found that the WOT extension in Firfefox is creating and deleting one file over and over and over...
Thanks,
Larry

Re: Searching different with V1.3.4.686
Rather than disabling real-time updating, I added the WOT folder of interest to the Everything Excluded Folders list.
I'm a happy camper again!
