How do I search executables by version?

Post by HerCathyness »

How can I find a particular version of a program when there are multiple instances across several drives, and they all have the same name?

Use Process Explorer does not require installation.

You see the date and the size in the Everything results.
If that doesn't help you can use the properties context menu entry of a result list entry
and look for the details here.

In Everything that is not yet possible, but try Locate32 - first search for .exe files and then turn on the column "file version"

It's been so long since I've opened Locate32, I totally forgot about that ability.

(Thinking, a long time ago, there was some PC-Mag util that had a decent GUI...?
Now if it would work any longer is anyone's guess.)
