Hotkey or menu option for "Force Rebuild"

Post by burgundy »

I don't use "Monitor Changes". Instead, every now and then I use the "Force Rebuild" button found on the Indexes page of Options.

I have recently discovered that Everything 1.4 is marvelously fast at rebuilding indexes! It is very impressive.

Unfortunately navigating the Options menu to find the "Force Rebuild" button is a bit slow. Is it possible to have "Force Rebuild" as an option in the menu when right-clicking Everything's tray icon? Alternatively a hotkey assignment to Force Rebuild would be very useful.

Just my suggestions. I hope you consider making this change. Thank you.

To add a keyboard shortcut to force a rebuild:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Keyboard tab.
  • Type in rebuild for Show commands containing
  • Select Indexes | Force Rebuild
  • Click Add....
  • Press a new keyboard shortcut and click OK.
  • Click OK.
An Indexing Menu is on my TODO list.

Thank you very much for going through those steps.

I never realized those hotkey functions existed within Everything. The more I use Everything, the more well thought out I find it to be. It's excellent.
