Search parameters

Post by portyforty2017 »

Sorry to have to ask an undoubtedly dumb question but I don't understand instructions too well. So the online Help kinda went over my head  .

I'm using Everything 1.3.4.686 64-bit in W7.

My drives are C, E, S and P.

I'm trying to find every .jpg and .png that was created from 1st November 2013 to 31st December 2014.

Could some kind person please tell me the search parameters I need to enter?

Thank you :)

Try something like:

Code: Select all

ext:png;jpg  dc:>=11/01/2013  dc:<2015
If you don't index date created, doing so will greatly speed things up.
Everything Options | Indexes
(I have little need for Created, though I do use Modified.)

Thanks but that didn't work.
All it did was find images in one specific folder of the E:\ drive.
It totally ignored all the other E:\folders as well as everything on the C, S and P drives.

Is your C:, S: and P: drive included in your Everything index:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the NTFS tab on the left.
  • Is C:, S: and P: shown in the list of NTFS volumes?
Do you have any search options checked under the Search menu?

C:, S: and P: are shown in list of NTFS volumes.

Under Search options I've tried 3 different methods:
a) With 'Filters' checked (which is the way I normally use Everything)
b) With Filters unchecked and a dot against Picture (under Search)
c) With Filters unchecked and a dot against Everything (under Search)

Doesn't seem to make any difference.

Does the following search show any results on the C:, S: and P: drive:
ext:jpg;png

Do you have any exclude folders set in Tools -> Options -> Exclude?
