Simple Suggestions, Should Be Easy :)

Post by LiquidSolstice »

Hey there. I love Search Everything. I use it and Launchy in the same manner (have it mapped to Alt + F). However, they're not entirely alike.

I generally only use SE with the keyboard, with very little mouse interaction. What I think would be awesome is if you had an option (checkbox, perhaps) that was something along the lines of "After selecting item and hitting return, close SE window". That would make it incredibly awesome :). Basically, for me, it would simply result in Alt+F + Q3Report > select Q3report.doc > Press Enter > window closes on its own and Q3Report launches :D

You can make "Everything" close automatically after executing an item with Everything 1.2.1.371.

To automatically close the search window after executing an item with "Everything" 1.2.1.371:
  • Exit Everything
  • Open your Everything.ini file in your "Everything" installation folder.
  • Add the following line to the end of the ini file:

    Code: Select all

    close_window_on_execute=1
  • Save changes and restart "Everything".
With the latest alpha version of "Everything" you can change the ENTER key to execute an item and close "Everything".

OR

To automatically close the search window after executing an item with "Everything" alpha version:
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the View tab.
  • From the Advance settings, from the General folder, check Close on execute.
  • Click OK.

Very awesome, works exactly how I wanted it to. Can't wait to see it standardized, as the Vista/7 system for managing Program Files folder files is a little bit tricky.
