Folder renaming causing crashes and database corruption?

Post by roBsonn »

Every few days Everything crashes on me during startup. Examining debug log shows that more often than not there are one or more folder renames happening immediately before crashing, and the database file becomes corrupt and needs deleting afterwards.

Is it possible that folder renaming causes database corruption? Can it be fixed in the next release? It's cumbersome to rebuild entire database every few days.

Last debug log: link.

Thanks for the debug log.

It is possible for the db to become corrupt if you have folder size indexing enabled or have a exclude filter or folder set.

Everything 1.4.1.884 should fix the issue:

I indeed have an excluded folder - the Recycle Bin. It is as you suggested in another thread.

I just now downloaded and updated my copy. Will let you know after a few days of testing.

Crashed in 1.4.1.877 (x64) - log.
This a log after third attempt to start the app. All three were the same - about three seconds of an empty window, status bar says "Updating database...", then a crash. The database was not fixed automatically, so I deleted it by hand and it had to rebuilt. Afterwards the program started.

P.S.
Just for the note, please don't come up with an idea to just delete the database file as a fix, because it's not the manual deleting that's problematic, but the long rebuilding.

This issue seems to be no longer - it hadn't appeared since I upgraded to 886!
