Version 1.4.1.895 (x64); custom icon in context menu not changed
Version 1.4.1.895 (x64); custom icon in context menu not changed
In Everything Version 1.4.1.895 (x64) and when using a custom icon, the context menu's icon is not changed (easily changed by editing the registry).

A program itself doesn't have an icon setting. It's the shortcut that does.
You can have multiple shortcuts, each with their own icon, to a program (in this case Everything.exe)
It's impossible to know for sure which icon should be used for the context menu.

Ah, yet another part of Everything I hadn't discovered. Thanks for that!
But that brings up another issue: the icon to use is a USER setting, whereas the context menu is a SYSTEM setting (by default; I added the context menu as a USER setting in my setup. That has to be done manually)

I've been using Everything for a long time and I like the original icon (or at least this was the icon used when I started using Everything).
Here is the custom icon for the program window (see customizing Everything), and the context menu icon (manual registry modifications).

Thanks David - I don't know if you provided those icons for me (as I have these icons already) or for others.
Thanks again for Everything!

For others that might want them.
Re: Version 1.4.1.895 (x64); custom icon in context menu not changed
Funny fact:
Another one fast search app that I was using for a long time before I found Everything (it happened about a halfyear ago) called FileSearchy is using in the tray an icon which is very similar to Everything's one:
That may be a reason to change the icon of Everything in the future and make its logo more recognizable. Btw, many online search engines' logos are alike, but I won't put their logos here.
FSearchy uses index for file search and iFilters for many text file formats, but unfortunatelly it has a very slow development (unlike the Everything), and for many years I know it this app had almost no changes.

Hi Cleoss,
I am testing FileSearchy (as a content search program), and I saw your post above.
I wanted to ask:
Why did you migrate to Everything? FileSearchy looks like a nice program.
Can you compare them and share your experience?
Thanks, Stamimail
