Use of "len:"; File name length vs. path name length

Post by Someone »

Everyone,

I need to identify files within a particular directory with path names exceeding 255 characters, as they may be passed over by the SyncToy tool without further notice. Someone on another forum recommended Everything.

However, Everything's "len:>" function seems to count characters only in file names, not the complete path names. Is there an option to choose between these two? I searched but turned up a blank on this forum.

Thanks

SO

P.S. I took 2 hours to compose this, due to frequent phone calls etc. In the process i was kicked multiple times for inactivity and had to relog. Can I suggest offering a "Keep me connected"-option upon login?

I know why searching turned a blank: it's so easy, noone ever asked.

Found the "Match Path" toggle. Sorry for bothering.

Will find wholefilenames meeting the supplied length.

Code: Select all

path:len:>255
That's quite a limitation of SyncToy.
(Seems I have that on my computer, but never used it.)

P.S. When I log in, I do see a "remember me" checkbox, & in my case, I do remain logged in, well, I suppose, or at least, I'm logged in automatically.
