The "search inside" has been suggested before and it would be a great addition BUT (there is alway one of those) it would slooowww things way down. The real beauty of SE right now is the incredible speed. And it is precisely because it does not have to touch the file that it has the speed.

Google desktop or Copernic would be good candidates for searching inside files.

Hello! I'm new and been using Everything for many months now. I thought it would be nice to have this feature, but as daspud said. It would drastically slow the search results down.

Fortunately, I found a tool recently thanks to LifeHacker called DocFetcher. It's lightweight compared to Google Desktop and Copernic and it's worth a try. (Just Google DocFetcher :) )

everything has http server, so the search result can be accessed from any client machine on the net that has a browser
i have tried Google Desktop, Copernic, DocFetcher, search inside the document, but i have not found this feature i need (http from a client machine)

does anyone knows some software that has all two features?
(linux or win)

thanks

It is really good to have a tool used for searching a word or words in a document done with a faster search technology. The latest version should be like that anyway. Anyone else who could at least show us around the remedy for this? Paper Shredding Service

Everything does not search inside a document or any file. It is limited to what is in the file name (and I hope it stays that way). Searching inside files is very time consuming. There are other tools for that. Check out Grep for windows http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/grep.htm

I agree with daspud, Everything should not change to look inside of files, it would slow things down. I have copernic and I use it for searching email only, I've disabled the file search capability. I use Everything precisely for it's speed. If anything, it should be an option not a default.
