New application in Microsoft Store that usurps the 'Everything' name

Post by raver »

Hello,
Just noticed an application in Microsoft Store called 'Everything Search Desktop"
It feels to me the developers (KS.STUDIO) usurps the name Everything to sell its app.
I don't know if the app name is protected, but maybe this app should be reported.

:o Even the desktop icon looks similar
What a knock-off ...

(On the other hand: it is a great compliment for Everything )

I don't know how to deal with such a problem. But I think the minimum to do is that the developer (David) should send a letter to Microsoft about the problem. I hope Microsoft will respect the complaint.

Other possibility: release the "official" Everything Search in the Microsoft Store too.

BTW:
@raver: Big thanks for reporting this!

This is out of my control.

Microsoft will not allow me to put "Everything" on the store as it contains a service.

I do not have the rights to the name "Everything".

You do have the copyright to your program, and as so,
try to send a letter to KS.STUDIO and get their position to the fact their product is very similiar by name and icon to your veteran program, in the same category.
If their position is clearly not right, you should contact websites that advertise your software and explain the situation to them, and threaten that if they do not care, you will not allow them to publish your software on their website.

This is just a thought. Take self-responsibility for the steps you take, whether you take it seriously, or not make a big-deal from it.
I don't know if it's worth the time/money to spend on this.
