Some Suggestions

Post by mohsyn »

1. Option to Export / Import Settings or at least have a backup of last settings which we can access manually just in case something goes wrong
2. Restore defaults restores settings for all tabs not just the one open - it forces you to lose all the customization elsewhere
3. if we switch language all customization of fonts / colors etc is reset to default [ bug ? ]

Simply make a backup of your Everything.ini.
There are enough tools to make this including version numbers like data and time in the copy.

1. Option to Export / Import Settings or at least have a backup of last settings which we can access manually just in case something goes wrong
An option to import/export settings from within the UI is in development.
The best way to backup your Everything settings is to copy your %APPDATA%\Everything folder.
Please make sure Everything is not running when backing up or restoring this folder.
2. Restore defaults restores settings for all tabs not just the one open - it forces you to lose all the customization elsewhere
Restore defaults only affects the current options page.
3. if we switch language all customization of fonts / colors etc is reset to default [ bug ? ]
Everything will remember your settings when changing the language.

It sounds like Everything is unable to save your settings.
Please make sure Everything is installed correctly:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything <- If this is unchecked, Everything might not be able to save your settings.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.
Thanks for the suggestions.
