dual configs? mostly local searching, then sometimes remote folders too

Post by minsik »

HI. Everything is excellent and my goto for Windows searching.
Many features and lots i dont know!

Most of the time i just need a local c: search but want to have the remote folders as indexed also. That means having to add a modifyer on most searches like
apple !\\ (to not include network addresses indexed).
or apple !\\ !T: (as company added a default remote drive).

So thats now getting hard to manage.
Is there a simple way to have a search restricted by default to the local drive (but still with indexed remote folders) and sometimes to be able to include everything?

So many features I am sure someone will have considered this. Seems like it could be a hotkey feature? Results showing just local drive and a hot key to display all from the indexed information?

thanks again to an excellent developer too.

Please try search filters:
  • In Everything, from the Search menu, click Add to filters....
  • Change Name to: Local Only
  • Change Search to: !\\ !T:
  • Optionally set a Keyboard shortcut.
  • Click OK.
  • From the Search menu, click Add to filters....
  • Change Name to: Remote Only
  • Change Search to: \\ | T:
  • Optionally set a Keyboard shortcut.
  • Click OK.
Filters can be accessed from the Search menu, filter bar (View -> Filters), right clicking the status bar, filter macro or filter keyboard shortcut.
