- A list with the last picks. This list shows files you've recently opened using Everything. Every new search pick is automatically added to this list and then the user can decide whether to keep the new items on the list or delete them. There are a few files that I open often and it is very nice to have them on a list.
- Command line. Right-click on a search result and have an option to Open a command window at the location of the item.

I am a former Avafind user now happily converted to Everything. There are a few feature of Avafind that I think may improve Everything:

* has drop down/fill in history
if not there & using 371, try 451
* thought that was there, with a keyboard shortcut? perhaps not?

Re: New features from AvaFind
I am using Everything 1.2.1.371 and I cannot see any search history. I looked for the newer version of the software but I coundn't find it. However I found out that the search history is already in the plans for a future version. I hope to see a new version soon.
The "go to prompt" menu is available by default on Windows 7, not on Windows XP, which I am currently using. You can however add it as explained here.

One "future version" that has the drop down is "Everything" version 1.2.1.451a .
Re: New features from AvaFind
I tried the alpha version: the drop down menu is better than nothing but not what I have in mind. I think that a list of the last picked files and folders is much more useful than the drop down menu. If you need to open a file that you searched for recently, with the drop down menu you basically need to search for it again and then go through the list of the search results. With a list of the last picked items you can find what you are looking for directly in the list.
Re: New features from AvaFind
I am also a user moved over from Avafind but think that a useful option would be to be able to add an item from the found list after a search to a box on the right side - sort of like pinning the item there like the My Picks box in Avafind. Everything does maintain a search history in the alpha version which I am trying out, but does it keep a history somewhere of the individual file which has had an action performed on it and could this list be made available in a viewable list?
Re: New features from AvaFind
The ability to add files to the list of the last picks is also a great feature for future versions of Everything. Statistically the number of files that are accessed very frequently is small and having this list would really speed things up.

It is possible to sort by run count with the latest alpha. The ability to add files to the list of the last picks is also a great feature for future versions of Everything. Statistically the number of files that are accessed very frequently is small and having this list would really speed things up.
I will consider implementing a panel to always show files sorted by run count.
Re: List of the recent picks (feature from AvaFind)
The column with the run frequency is great. However, I think it would be much more useful if it didn't reset when closing the program (i.e.: every time you restart the computer). I would like it to show the run frequency from when I started using Everything.
Re: List of the recent picks (feature from AvaFind)
I agree. Some entires have a saved run frequency when I restart. I have started Opera browser many times but the run frequency is 3 while it should be many more.Carlo wrote:The column with the run frequency is great. As a work-around you can manually add a run frequency to a search item using the right-click menu. Seems to hold between closing and restarting Everything. Would be nice to know when the run frequency is remembered (mayby regular closing Everything?)

Yes it would be very useful to set a filter for most frequently accessed files with a count for a specific lapse of time (without resetting at every boot).
I did not undersatand the work-around jar, anyway I'll subscribe this topic to keep in touch with any news.
