Hi All
first of all, thank you for this wonderful tool that is Everything
I would like to know if there is a feature or a plugin that allows to "mark" some files to find them later in a temporary list or group. without modifying the file in question, only that Everything remembers the files of the files in question
I use Everything a lot to list files and check them one by one. I would have liked to know if a command could help me to mark them without having to save their path on a separate media
thanks in advance
Search for possibility to "Mark Files"
Re: Search for possibility to "Mark Files"
You can save a current search by exporting it to a "File List" (which you can then load at a later time).
File | Export -> (save as) ... .efu.
File | Export -> (save as) ... .efu.
Re: Search for possibility to "Mark Files"
thanks therube but that's not exactly what I search
I don't want to save an entire list, more a command to "add" selected files to another list or kind of sort
the closest program I know of that does this is XnView Mp, where you can mark selected files (with Ctrl+T) and then view all the marked files (with Shift+T). i would like to have the possibility to do the same with Everything if possible

Re: Search for possibility to "Mark Files"
In the future this will be possible in Everything 1.5 (cuurently available as alpha version),
Then you can tag files and folders, for example as "Project X".
For now, there are a couple of ways to come close.
Use Run Count
You can right-click a file/folder and choose Set Run Count and change it to for example 9999
You can even change the runcount of multiple files at once.
To find these files again, search for runcount:>9998
Save in EFU File
- Open the File List editor (Menu:Tools > File List Editor... )
- Drag the files to want to mark to the File List Editor
- Save your EFU File List (Menu:File > Save As

Re: Search for possibility to "Mark Files"
Poulpiche
i was proposing (almost 8 years ago) to implement a 'hide/show selected/unselected items' feature that i still miss very much
because it could have helped a lot to do some necessary actions concerning some chosen folders/files only
while not drowning in a result list which is often quite long/huge
maybe such option could have been useful for you too

You can do that in Everything 1.5:adamantine wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 5:55 pm i was proposing (almost 8 years ago) to implement a 'hide/show selected/unselected items' feature that i still miss very much
Right-click the selected files and choose Add to Temporary Excludes
Requires Temporary Excludes to be enabled (Menu:Index > Enable Temporary Excludes )
Re: Search for possibility to "Mark Files"
thanks NotNull, I'll try both suggestions or yours
on the other side,is it a way to to show all Temporary Excludes files in on Everything ?

Re: Search for possibility to "Mark Files"
Yes, there is:
Menu:Index > Show All Temporary Excludes... will show a list of all files.folder you excluded. Double-clicking (or ENTER) them will open it's folder in File Explorer.
(Everything 1.5 is still under development; especially the user intreface might change later on)

Re: Search for possibility to "Mark Files"
I have on my TODO list to add a 'work area' sidebar from where you will be able to drag files from and drop files to.
You would be able to 'mark' files by adding them to your 'work area'.
For now, please consider using a file list:
When you are done marking files, save your file list.
You can then open this file list at a later date to copy/edit/manipulate the files.
