Reading XMP metadata from files

Hey everyone,

I think this is the best Windows tool every made. One thing that would make it even more insanely cool would be if it could read an XMP data layer in files.

If you could then search on that it would be amazing, especially if you could then sort on multiple items, eg. Everything with XMP value X and filename Y.

Have to echo this! This feature is worth while a new donation from all of us who have this need!!

And - if you are able to read metatags (ie keywords that was created in Lightroom or other), that would be a killing-app feature!!

If you can add metatags search - you will instantly be loved by all photographers!

I use your program to see my .eps .ai .pdf .jpg .psd files in preview. Instantly. And this program is so unbelieveable fast to find my files!

that's great news, i didn't want to put keywords in the file titles for pictures tagging as windows won't open files with names too long

I completely agree with the original poster: Everything is the best Windows program I've ever used, bar none. It's a work of absolute genius.

I wanted to chime in regarding metadata from the perspective of someone who doesn't know what XMP is.

It'd be great if metadata/tags for all Windows file types could be indexed and searched by Everything. It'd be nice if the metadata/tags could be very, very long.

Could metadata/tags perhaps be added to all Windows file types through an Everything interface (maybe via a right-click context menu?)

What programs do fellow Everything aficionados presently recommend for adding metadata/tags to Windows files (particularly text (.doc, .docx) and pdf files)?

Yes, the alpha release of Everything 1.5 is available for testing and it includes reading and indexing XMP metadata:
