Overriding exclusions by using the search syntax

Post by burgundy »

I have set Everything not to show links in the results by specifying .lnk (in Options > Indexes > Exclude).

Can I override this by for a single search, without disabling the entire exclude list?

Perhaps there's a parameter I can use in my search statement to force Everything to include links?

Please consider changing your Everything filter:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Exclude tab on the left.
  • Clear Exclude files.
  • Click OK.
  • From the Search menu, click Organize filters....
  • Select Everything and click Edit....
  • Change the Search to:
    !*.lnk
  • Click OK.
  • Click New....
  • Change the Name to:
    Everything (including .lnk files)
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK.
Filters can be activated from the Search menu, Filter bar (View -> Filters), right clicking the status bar, filter macro or filter keyboard shortcut.

.lnk files will now be excluded when the Everything filter is active.
Activate the Everything (including .lnk files) filter to show lnk files.

-or-

Please consider temporary excludes in the Everything 1.5 alpha.
