Filter/Bookmark keyboard shortcuts in search field

Post by Mizufluffy »

Is there an option or setting to disable Filter/Bookmark keyboard shortcuts when search field has focus? I'm using Everything 1.5.0.1270a.
I noticed some keyboard shortcuts can cause problems while searching. For example, let's say I want to type a character } and I have a bookmark shortcut CTRL+ALT+ 0 and I use that (or AltGr+0) in order to type character } but I accidently use the bookmark shortcut instead.

On my part I'll admit it may not be the best keyboard shortcut but options are already quite limited because Shift+Number (1 - 0) are needed for !"#¤%&/(()= characters and SHIFT+Letter are for uppercase letters. Many menu shortcuts are using CTRL+ or CTRL+SHIFT+ shortcuts. There are also some ALT+ shortcuts in use too. CTRL+ALT+ shortcuts seemed to be in use the least by default.

I rarely have a need to use a Filter/Bookmark keyboard shortcut if I'm already typing in the search field so in that sense it just gets in my way if I happen to use them by accident. On the other hand some shortcuts (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X, Ctrl+V, etc.) are extremely useful so I wouldn't want to have all keyboard shortcuts disabled when searching.

Everything doesn't distinguish between } , X , F1 or media-key key presses.

Everything is not going to stop you from using } as a keyboard shortcut.

I will consider an option to set the keyboard shortcut 'use in' flag for filters/bookmarks.
Thank you for the suggestion.

For now, please consider one of the following shortcuts:
Ctrl + }
Ctrl + Shift + }
Ctrl + Alt + }
Alt + }
