Everything v1.5.0 Build1273a [64-bit] resets custom filter name

Post by SuperDude »

Hello! I tried renaming my “Everything” Filter name from the default “Everything” to —■ EVERYTHING ■— (just to make it stand out - my eyes are bad).

However, if I exit Everything, stop the Everything Service, restart the service, and restart Everything, my custom name is reset to the default “Everything” — I tried renaming the other default filters, and they are not being reset to their default names. I am guessing this is happening due to there being nothing in the Macro edit field? Thanks again for creating this incredible piece of software :P

Thanks for the bug report SuperDude,

The "Everything" filter is special, it is named "EVERYTHING" internally.
The "Everything" filter always exists and is recreated when deleted.
The custom "Everything" filter name is stored in the filter_everything_name ini setting.

Everything remembered the custom filter name for me when restarting Everything.

If you exit Everything, are your settings being saved to disk?
-Please check if this filter_everything_name ini setting is being updated.

Are you replacing your Everything.ini?

Is your Everything.ini read-only?
-Everything will not save to an Everything.ini that is flagged as read-only.

Is Tools -> Options -> General -> Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything enabled?
-If not, Everything may not have permission to save your settings to disk.

The "Everything" filter macro does not need to be set.
