Hi Team,
Versions:
Version 1.5.0.1276a (x64)
win10 64 bit
current phenomenon:
1. searching a folder in a NTFS removable volumes;
2. it will stuck/crash when trying to open the folder(strike the "Enter" key or double click the name);
3. so i have to reboot the computer, the above issue disappear;
4. hours later after rebooting, the issue appear again(at least 3 time today only);
5. if without rebooting, it will recovered out of stuck/crash automatically after several minutes, longer, or shorter, around 3 minutes...or 10 minutes... i don't count it specifically.
question:
this removable volume is with a size of 4 TB, which is almost used up its volume, maybe it's cause of some file in this removable volume that's incompatible with Everything 1.5? but there's no such issue in previous version(1.4.XXX)(or at least not so frequently for me to note);
expectation:
stability for this scenario.
thanks.
still crash frequently when searching a folder and open it in removable volumes in 1.5.0.1276a (x64)
Re: still crash frequently when searching a folder and open it in removable volumes in 1.5.0.1276a (x64)
Could you please send some debug information:
Everything simply calls ShellExecute when opening a folder/file and lets the OS do the rest.
It could be an issue with accessing icons/thumbnails, or a DDE transaction.
The drive might be going into recovery mode. (Does the whole system hang?)
Please check the SMART status of your drive.
Debug logs will help determine the cause of the issue.
- In Everything 1.5, search for folder on the removable NTFS volume.
- From the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, click Start Debug Logging.
- Open a folder in the result list.
- Wait for Everything to recover from the hang.
- From the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, click Stop Debug Logging.
---this will open your Everything Debug Log.txt - Please send this file to support@voidtools.com
