Is Taskbar middle-click for New Search Window possible?

Most modern software offers the ability to open a New Window when the user middle-clicks the program's Taskbar icon. Window's Explorer, Command Terminal, Google Chrome, Notepad, LibreOffice, etc all support this behavior.

Is there a setting I can enable that allows Everything to open up a File -> New Search Window [Ctrl+N] via middle-click on the Windows Taskbar?

By default, Everything only likes to have one window opened.

Please try enabling Tools -> Options -> UI -> Create a new window when running Everything.

That doesn't seem to work. I enabled Create a new window when running Everything and hit Apply and OK. Middle-click still did nothing. Tried using /restart but still no love after Everything restarted.

Do you have an Everything Start menu shortcut?

-If not, please consider enabling the start menu shortcut:

• In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the General tab on the left.
• Check Start menu shortcut.
• Click OK.

Ah hah, thanks! No I had not installed a shortcut in the Start Menu with the 1.5a but rather unzipped it as Portable for testing and never bothered to add one.

As an observation, I see that Everything installs the shortcut for All Users under "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\" (in Win 7). So it required Administrator (UAC prompt) permission to install. I have no opinion about this, but I thought it was interesting to note.
