Google Drive Related Help - search giving incorrect results

Post by gazumped »

In my version of Windows 10, Google Drive set itself up as my local G:\ drive and I could easily search the content there. The Gdrive Windows client however recently caused me issues, with a big chunk of unwarranted CPU activity and lots of disk access. There should have been no syncing left to do on my content - this was an old account, not a brand new install. I eventually uninstalled the client and went back to using browser access only. This meant that my G:\ drive no longer exists. However - Everything is still showing files there. If I try to open a path to the file I get "the system cannot find the path specified". How can I flush the old entries to avoid these false positives cropping up? (Assuming that this is an Everything issue and not a Drive question!)

Without knowing "Google Drive"...

I'll guess that "G:" is still being seen (by Everything), so if you go to;
Tools | Options | Indexes -> NTFS
if G: is listed in there, uncheck 'Include in database', [Apply].

Hmmn. I'm learning a lot about Options today... Had a look where you suggested: I have C: plus two external hard drives, but no G: - and I (apparently) have 'automatically remove offline volumes' checked, which you'd think would do the trick. Couldn't see G: being mentioned anywhere else in Options either. :(

Hold the 'phone - I just looked in Folders and found a G:! I think I may have found the issue. Thanks for the assist!! :)
