Google Drive Scan Problem ( Dec 2021 )

Post by micheleranauro »

Hello, I am writing here to try to find a clever solution to this. I have installed Everythin g on new hardware (with Win10Pro), and it struggles to do a full scan of Google Drive, which is a fixed volume, but to be "seen" by Everything it has to be placed in the Folders of Everything category. This did not happen to me with the previous computer, with which I never had this problem. Nobody is able to help me on this, to allow me to do a complete scan of the Google Drive folder, and its subfolders. Thank you in advance and I wish you a Merry Christmas 2021 Michele Ranauro

Please make sure Everything is installed correctly:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.

To add your Google drive (G: drive) to your Everything index:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Folders tab.
  • Click Add....
  • Select your Google drive (G: drive) and click OK.
  • Click OK.

Please try disabling folder_update_thread_mode_background to improve scanning performance:
  • In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
    /folder_update_thread_mode_background=0
  • If successful, folder_update_thread_mode_background=0 is shown in the status bar for a few seconds.

To view scanning progress:
  • In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
    /debug
---This will show a debug console.
  • type in the following search and press ENTER:
    /verbose
---Scanning progress is shown in Yellow text.
-Is Everything getting stuck on a particular folder? or is it just slow?

To close the debug console:
  • In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
    /debug
