Recognize Microsoft Publisher Documents as "Documents"

Post by ARKent »

I have a lot of documents in Microsoft Publisher (.pub) files and they are not showing up when I search for Documents. I have to search "Everything" and then sort through so many things.
Please add the .pub to the "documents" searches

You can simply add .pub to the list of extensions to be recognized as "Documents".
Search | Organize Filters... -> Document --> Edit
then append what is there with,
;pub
.

You can also whittle down your search results to certain file types without ever specifying a Filter. Just add more refinements to your search query.

Examples:

*.pub
ext:pub
tps reports .pub
ext:pub tps reports
*tps*reports*.pub

etc

I will add pub to the default filters list for the next Everything update.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Thank you for the tip that it is easily possible to customize the filters!

It would be nice if the OpenOffice/LibreOffice file formats were also included as documents by default.

The most common filename extensions used for OpenDocument documents are:
  • .odt and .fodt for word processing (text) documents
  • .ods and .fods for spreadsheets
  • .odp and .fodp for presentations
  • .odg and .fodg for graphics
  • .odf for formula, mathematical equations

OpenOffice/LibreOffice file extensions will also be included in the default documents filter for the next major update of Everything.

Thank you for the suggestion.
