Searching content in cloud folder that has a sync data validation failure result in freeze

I have a OneDrive synced folder that, although not critical, has infrequent files that suffer from 0x8007017F error: the cloud sync provider failed to validate the downloaded data.

On few occasions, I had to search for file content in these folders, and when one or more files above have said error, Everything freezes completely.
The status bar shows the result, but the result pane remains blank and nothing can be done in the software except to force close it and reopen.

Does the issue persist if you disable 'attempt to monitor' changes under Tools -> Options -> Folders -> OneDrive folder?

The onedrive folder is not included in the list as it is synced directly on my C.

No, it must be an issue elsewhere.



The issue might be related to a shell extension.

The next time Everything freezes, could you please send me a mini-crash dump?

• Please make sure the crash dialog is shown and leave it open. (in your case, please make sure Everything is still running and frozen)
• Download Process Explorer from Microsoft:
  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer
• In Process Explorer, select Everything.exe (If there is two, select the one using the most memory)
• Right click Everything.exe and under Create Dump, select Create Mini Dump.
• Choose a filename and click Save.
