Everything does not search Chrome bookmarks ?

Hi, I see that Everything does not include Chrome-bookmarks in its search.
Is there any way to fix this?

Everything indexes filenames only.

Everything should index the filename for the bookmarks file where Google Chrome stores its bookmarks.

You may like to create an EFU file with the URLs from your bookmarks and include this in your Everything index.

The EFU file in Notepad would look something like:

If you want to convert your Google Chrome bookmarks into collections of .URL files in folders that Everything can search, there is a program from 2011 called Transmute. The website is down and the software is no longer maintained, but you can download it from the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine.

It takes a few minutes if you have a lot of bookmarks, but it seems to still work all these years later.

Nirsoft also do a couple of very good bookmark viewers.

It *is* strange that Chrome doesn't include anymore the ability to export bookmarks as "Internet Explorer" .url files. It used to have this ability, and Firefox still might but I haven't checked. I even checked for Chrome Extensions but no dice.

I suppose the reason Everything doesn't support his is because it's just dedicated to handling files and folders, and some of those files metadata, but it's not really intended to completely render and parse the full contents of the file itself. (It's not a media player). The Chrome SQL database is not just a simple flat file so it's hard to work with, and the exported bookmarks.html is just a regular .html file you can already open in any web browser so Everything doesn't really need to emulate what web browsers can already do.

But I do hope you found my solution useful and working. I was surprised the program still works, and so I exported my own bookmarks into .url files so I don't lose them so easily. Thanks for the idea! Let me know if you need any help.

Worth mentioning, if it's at all useful, that Nirsoft also does downloads view, addons view, cache view and history view for Chrome.

I use Firefox, and the Nirsoft programmes work flawlessly
