Unable to locate a sub folder 4 layers down

Post by Adrain##P »

I have a folder structure which has a main folder name then has multiple layers of folders below so you end up with a path such as >Folder\Subfolder1\ Subfolder2\Subfolder3\Subfolder 4

When searching the tool is bringing results up for folder names and documents that appear in subfolder 3 - however when I search for a 'known' folder name or document that is located at layer 4 I am getting no results.

I have tried rescanning the drive.

Any assistance would be great.

Thank you for the issue report Adrain##P,

What version of Everything are you using?
Is the drive with missing folders an NTFS volume? or something else?

Please make sure no search options are checked under the Search menu (eg: uncheck match case, uncheck match whole words, uncheck regex)

Please make sure the Everything filter is active under the Search menu.

Please make sure these files/folders are not excluded from Tools -> Options -> Exclude.

Please ensure Everything is running as a standard user:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.

Please try forcing a rebuild:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Indexes tab on the left.
  • Click Force Rebuild.
  • Click OK.

(1.4/1.5a) Moved folders' contents missing from index, evade 'monitor changes', 'fast rescan', etc.
