Possible to have thumbnails cached?

When searching for results that include pictures or videos, Everything has to continuously re-load the thumbnails for the results, making searching very slow when looking for a specific piece of media. Is there a way to have the thumbnails cached along with the database so they could be loaded quicker?

I have the K-Lite Codec package installed which comes with the Icaros thumbnail provider.
This includes caching which also works for me in Everything.

Everything uses the OS to gather thumbnails.

The OS should be caching your thumbnails.

Windows 10 thumbnail cache has a small maximum size.
AFAIK, this cannot be changed..


Please make sure you are running Everything as a standard user:

• In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the General tab on the left.
• Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
• Uncheck Run as administrator.
• Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
• Click OK.
• Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
• Restart Everything.

Everything will then share the same thumbnail cache as Windows Explorer.


Please try resetting your system icon cache.
Are the files local or on the network?


Please try disabling automatic maintenance from clearing your thumbnail cache



Please try increasing your request_extra_fileinfo_end:

• Copy and paste the following into your Everything search box:
  /request_extra_fileinfo_end=256
• Press ENTER in the Everything search box.
• If successful, request_extra_fileinfo_end=256 is shown in the status bar for a few seconds.
• Everything will now load the thumbnails for an extra 256 files that are "offscreen".
