Indexing Smsartphone?

Post by Biff »

So I can see there are files on the Smsartphone shown in the search result. But I cannot find the index, nor in "Inedexs" or in the folder panel. Where is it?

Ah, no, it is the cache of the Smartphone Manger on Win. Is it possible to index Smsartphones?

Do you mean Smartphone?
Do you mean you checked under Indexes?

Everything 1.4 does not support indexing virtual devices.

Everything 1.5 does not automatically index virtual devices.

To add a virtual device to your Everything 1.5 index:
  • In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Folders tab.
  • Click Add....
  • Select your smartphone (eg: Pixel4XL under this computer) and click OK.
  • Click OK.
This folder might not be visible if Everything is running as an administrator.
Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.

I use a portable Everything.

There no result shown, no items:

Could you please send some verbose debug output:
  • In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, click Start Debug Logging.
  • From the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, check Verbose.
  • From the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Folders tab on the left.
  • Select your phone folder.
  • Click Rescan now.
---Everything will show rescanning text above the add button---
  • Wait until this rescanning text disappears. (the text may only appear briefly, if unsure, please wait one minute)
  • From the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, click Stop Debug Logging.
  • ---this will open your Everything Debug Log.txt---
  • Could you please send this file to support@voidtools.com

Have you enabled folder_background_index?
-If so, Everything might not scan your phone immediately.

Select your phone folder.
Click Rescan now.

This message (saying something like no response or no connection) came up on the first try (clicking the Rescan now butten), although there was a connection, I would think:

I plugged off and in the USB plug, clicked that button again a few times and sometimes the rescan text was shown - mostly it wasn't - for a second or two.

Just sent the log.

No, I didn't. What is this useful for?

After having turned off the debug mode Everything goes on using up to over 15 % of CPU. Is there some (debug) process still running?

Thanks for the logs.

The logs show the phone folder is empty.

Windows Explorer is also showing this phone folder as empty.
Everything will index the same as what you see in Windows Explorer.

Have you enabled folder_background_index?

Indexing folders in the background, instead of immediately.
Enabling it can make your initial index faster, but your folder indexes will appear empty until the background index completes.
Please leave it disabled as it is inefficient.

Everything is no longer in debug mode, however, having verbose mode checked can cause Everything to process additional information.

Please try unchecking verbose debug mode:
  • From the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, uncheck Verbose.

You're welcome.
Windows Explorer is also showing this phone folder as empty.
Everything will index the same as what you see in Windows Explorer.
So it is not possible to index that phone.
Please try unchecking verbose debug mode:

From the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, uncheck Verbose.
Yes, I had done right after turning off the debug mode, didn't help.
