Create a bookmark to list all lettered drivers + mounted drive and show free space left

Post by JTCGiants56 »

Hello, I am looking to create bookmark with the above.

Windows does not make it easy to quicky show the free space of all mounted drives that don't have drive letters.

I'm wondering if there is an easy way to make a bookmark that shows all drives with letters + mounted drives without letters in everything, so I can quickly sort and see how much space is left on each drive.

Thanks

The search verb root: will display all indexed volumes.

Try Everything 1.5 Alpha: You can add the columns Free Disk Size or Available Free Disk Size, hopefully one or the other works for all of your volume types.

Thanks, this works pretty good.

One other quick question for anyone. Is it possible to show in GB and TB like when you go to 'My Computer'?

My computer:

Edit:

I am having one more issue. Within the bookmark I set it to only show 2 columns. The problem is when I clear out the bookmark, all my other columns don't come back, and I am just stuck with those 2.

I don't have an answer for column formatting. AFIAK there are no current features for setting the preferred size format or date format for any individual column.

You can set your preferred default columns in Options -> General -> Home

You can then reset to your default columns by closing/showing/toggling the Everything window (ie, Keyboard -> Hotkeys),
or by History -> Home [Alt+Home],
or by using the verb about:home which can also be bookmarked.

Everything 1.5.0.1310a will now show 'short' size formats for disk sizes.

Instead of setting the columns with the bookmark, please try including the following in your bookmark search:

add-columns:free-disk-size;total-disk-size

Alternatively, set a filter to temporarily add these columns
  • In Everything, from the Search menu, click Add to filters....
  • Change the Name to:
  • Disk Size Columns
  • Changes Columns to:
  • Add columns....
  • Click Add....
  • Select the Free Disk Size property and click OK.
  • Click Add....
  • Select the Total Disk Size property and click OK.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK.
Have your bookmark select this filter.

It seems at least for "Free disk space" this column does not update on the fly. Even when removing and re-adding my bookmark line "root: add-columns:free-disk-size;total-disk-size", it will not change with the new amount of space.

Thanks for the feedback JTCGiants56,

Everything will only update this information when the root folder changes (you create, modify or delete a file or folder directly in C:)

I will look into periodically updating this information.

For now, please press F5 to update this information.
