UAC Pass - Give Admin Rights to an App, Once

Post by therube »

I have not tested this, but it sounds interesting ...

UAC Pass allows to give or take back administrative rights on a specific application once and for all, with User Account Control active at the same time but without any prompt.

Thank you again!
Turns out this tool as something I wanted for a long time to run with UAC
on and at the same time select which apps should NOT trigger warning.
It work so well!

The source for this is returning a 403 (though it is still in Google's caches), so ...

This is the linked to forum thread, UAC Pass - bypass UAC prompts only for specific programs.
(Though it links back to the original site for the program, which returns a 403), so ...

You can download it from Softpedia as they have it archived, UAC Pass 1.7a.
(You can verify the .exe's hash with the forum page, I did not, but the version I've had does agree with what the forum shows.)

Looks like the author has updated the download links on his UAC Pass homepage now, as they are working at this time. :)

I would recommend using the new beta to avoid UAC issues.

Thanks! Repairing a relative's WinXP machine right now and haven't yet had a chance to try the new beta or UAC Pass on my Win7 machine, but am interested in the UAC Pass for several other utilities as well.

Delighted to see you back and actively developing Everything, David! :!: :D

In reviewing the changelogs for all your recent betas, I'm not clear how UAC is affected. Could you perhaps clarify a bit?

Thanks!

The Everything Search client in the new beta no longer requires administrative privileges.
No UAC prompt should be shown when running Everything.

The new beta uses the Everything service for indexing and monitoring NTFS volumes.

The UAC prompt is now only shown when installing Everything, changing certain settings with-in Everything and uninstalling.

Ahhh! Thanks! I had skimmed through the Everything service post, but hadn't yet digested all the implications.

NICE! ;)
