If I am not mistaken, then a file extension that has no program association in Windows will not display in Everything's column of Kind anything
How is a user to know if lack of this data is legit / correct and not some issue with reading / indexing it?
Should not then inf utilize an empty set sign or something like "[NONE]" to indicate to user kind-less files?
Kind should not remain empty
Re: Kind should not remain empty
I will consider [NONE] or (None) or (Unknown) kinds.
Ideally, Everything will report the same Kind you see in Windows Explorer, which may include empty kinds.
Perhaps Everything needs a search modifier to distinguish between gathered and ungathered information.
Thank you for the suggestion.
To find empty kinds, include the following in your search:
exact:kind:""
