Multiple Filter Bar lists and Search Edit boxes

Post by Thy Grand Voidinesss »

Firstly: I would like to propose adding a possibility of using simultaneously of more than just Filter Bar

Currently a user [like me] not experienced with using regular expressions and / or syntax of Everything is nevertheless still able to use its advanced capabilities: by pre-defining frequently used filtering expressions and putting them on the convenient to use drop-down list of the Filter Bar feature. But what if such user wants to combine settings of 2 different Filters, that a user has painstakingly come up with in a distant past? Like for example digging in Recycle Bin for just audio file formats but based on their Kind? A user is forced to use either the Bookmarks thus "polluting" the Search Edit box and / or use this Search Edit feature in a totally manual way. So there goes the convenience. But if a user could add a second [but preferably even more] Filter Bars then mashing / narrowing of search criteria would be so much easier and faster

Secondly: also more than just one Search Edit box could be beneficial in the same way

Although I reckon that this second upgrade could start to complicate things greatly, leading possibly to a whole festival of glitches. So maybe [for starters] there could be a kind of Mini Search Edit / Search Extra, that would not succumb to changes in Filter Bars and would not receive input from Bookmarks - and be editable only by hand? Thus would allow for a quick further filtering of already filtered results by e.g. writing in it something as simple like
.FLAC
or
\temp\

Please try the filter sidebar in Everything 1.5 (View -> Filters)

Hold down Ctrl to select multiple filters at the same time.

-or-

Use filter macros to specify more than one filter at a time.
For example:
audio:|video:
| = OR

A secondary search bar is on my TODO list.
Thank you for the suggestions.

There is also the Find bar in Everything 1.5 (Ctrl + F)

For example:
Ctrl + F
search for:
*.flac

-This doesn't hide results, which I assume is what you want.
-This will only highlight the found results.
-Press F3 to jump to the next match.

There is also Find and Select in Everything 1.5 (Ctrl + Shift + F)

For example:
Ctrl + Shift + F
search for:
*.flac

-Matched results will be selected.
-Press F4 to jump to the next selected item.

And the rest of those already existing functions are also helpful
