Why does indexing the "Volume label" takes very long? And removing it and indexing?

Why does indexing the "Volume label" takes very long? And removing it and indexing?

Post by Biff »

I have added "Volume label" to the properties (the Properties tab). Pressed OK and Everything started indexing the properties and showing the green progress bar that shows a tiny green progress bar that very slowly gets wider. So it would take a long time to index that "Volume label" property. Why is that, why does it take so long as I thought it was just a single property occurring once in the name / label of the drive (not in the files)?

I then removed "Volume label" from the Properties tab and again Everything obviously started indexing properties. According to the progress bar (the bar very slowly getting wider), this will take dozens of minutes, even hours. What properties are indexed now? Why obviously will it take that long?

Everything will need to gather the volume label from each file.

Index only root folders to avoid gathering volume labels for each file.
Check Include Folders.
Uncheck Include files.
Set the property exclude folders to: **\**

Everything will regather property values for all files when changing what properties are indexed.

Everything should already keep track of the volume label at the time of indexing with the Index Volume Label property.

Index only root folders to avoid gathering volume labels for each file.
To do this one had to add this(?):
Image

And that would cause ALL of the properties of ALL the files of ALL of the drives would be indexed again?
Everything will regather property values for all files when changing what properties are indexed.
So ALL the properties of ALL the files of all of the drives are indexed again (as if they were not being indexed before, as if there was no property in the property tab before and adding the properties to the property tab?) when adding or removing a single property? If yes, why indexing the properties being already indexed again?
Everything should already keep track of the volume label at the time of indexing with the Index Volume Label property.
Sorry, what does that mean? I had to use that property to do what? It is better using that instead of "Volume label"?
