A modern look for Everything

Post by avi »

Can you please give an option to WIN11 Mica Backdrop effect or Acrylic for the entire search window and results?
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windo ... style/mica
As for Windows File Explorer https://github.com/Maplespe/ExplorerBlurMica .
(I mean for Everything 1.5).

I have put on my TODO list to add support for Mica.

Thank you for the suggestion.

It looks like Mica is only for UWP applications (Store Apps).
Do you know how to make this work with Win32 applications written in C (like Everything)?

Please don't go down a rabbit hole trying to make this happen.

If it can't be done easily without compromising on features, performance, and reliability, it should not be done IMO.

Tools are first and foremost useful. Please don't sacrifice utility or stability in pursuit of the latest trendy UI "paradigm."

This is also possible with regard to the Windows file explorer see https://github.com/Maplespe/ExplorerBlurMica .
You can consult with him or with https://github.com/MicaForEveryone/MicaForEveryone , the experts on this.

(I guess you know my opinion on something like this ;-).
I'm totally against "pretty" [or pretty ugly], glitter & glam.
I'm totally against anything that makes things "homogenized", where you can no longer tell in which program you are in, where everything just blurs together.
My Win7 looks like XP, just as it should :-).)

It is known that a good appearance greatly contributes to productivity, and this is sought after by many. I just asked to give it an option, so that those who don't want to, then don't choose this option!

Yes, I understand. Just as I gave my opinion.

Now that is something I could take exception to (but I won't go into it).

I'm certainly very happy with the current utilitarian look, but if there's interest in an 'aesthetic' look and it's optional I think no harm there.
* Main thing to avoid is enforced low contrast between items (stressful examples that spring to mind are the standard Win10 window scheme where you can't distinguish window outlines or focusses from neighbouring windows, Firefox tabs with little contrast between active and inactive ones (they've improved it on complaints but far from enough and they seem to discuss such questions for years), or scroll bars where the draggable part is poorly contrasted).
