Everything.exe using large amount of memory on file server

Post by svinthehouse »

Hi,

Have an archive server with millions of files. Everything.exe was running at 20GB of memory and appears to be causing system slowness.

I'm looking for some understanding of how much memory should I expect the server to use and if this is an abnormality. I have been running Everything for years on a variety of MSFT OSes. A colleague wants to uninstall it.

Thanks!

With Everything 1.4, 100 MB per one million objects (files/folders) is to be expected .

The total amount of objects will be shown in the statusbar when no search filters are active (i.e only 'Everything' is activated under the Search menu entry)

It's taking huge amounts of memory. Is there any kind of tuning or anything we can do on a large file store? It's closing in on 100% memory utilization.
