Invert Selection

Post by therube »

Invert Selection, could be helpful (as well as potentially "dangerous").

say you have a set of files highlighted
& you want to Temp Omit all but said files
(or other similar operation)

- Invert Selection, Shift+*, & you're done

(Invert Selection, Shift+*, should act as a toggle, so invert selects the not selected, then invert again, re-selects the original data set)

(Now, you have to be aware, lest you do something like have a search of "", so everything listed, 1 file selected, & you invert, & then Shift+DEL ;-).)

Have you set Shift + * to temp omit?

I'm not sure what would help here.
Would a 'temp omit unselected' command be useful? -this would avoid the need to invert the selection.

A general Invert selection would be almost useless.
What should be the inverted results of a complex selection.
In the simplest way, it would remove all lines which are currently displayed
getting an empty list.

Simply an "invert selection".
Be it used with Temp Omit, rename, move, delete, or in any other manner, doesn't really matter.

But you have a set of files, some are selected.
Invert.
Those that were selected, no longer are.
Those that were not selected, now are.
Invert.
The process is reversed.

There is already an Invert Selection option available under the Edit menu.

-Maybe that is why I'm confused :?

Are you referring to something else? -or are you expecting a different behavior with the existing Invert Selection option?

There is already
Heh.

Yep, that's just what I wanted.
And I can also assign a shortcut to it.
Done.
Thanks.

I vote for Invert selection the classic way

If selected while have check boxes this is excellent as I requested this feature , invert will be helpful to do so :)
