Bug: offline exFAT volumes rescanning

Post by zonetrooperex »

exFAT volumes that are offline make the status bar endlessly show "Rescanning ...".

Everything will try to rescan your exFAT drive on startup if the last scheduled rescan was missed.

The rescan will timeout after 5 minutes.

Is this status still shown after 5 minutes?

The timeout of 5 minutes is really only necessary for network drives and network folders.

I'll make exFAT volumes timeout after 10 seconds in the next alpha update.

Thanks for bringing the issue to my attention.

Everything 1.5.0.1364a will now automatically timeout in 10 seconds when rescanning an offline FAT volume.

To set a custom FAT rescan timeout value:
  • In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Advanced tab on the left.
  • To the right of Show settings containing, search for:
    fat
  • Select fat_rescan_timeout.
  • Set the value to: 10000
(where 10000 is the desired number of milliseconds to wait)
  • Click OK.
