The File List Editor is for editing EFU (Everything file lists).

I will consider support for editing playlists.
What playlist extension are you using?
For playlists, file extensions .m3u and m3u8 can work with lists consisting of only file paths, without any other information.
And those playlists will work on any audio or video player I can think of.

I'd be happy with only support for .m3u/.m3u8 playlists..
But, in case is of interest, I include playlist examples:

I do think adding support for playlists other than M3U/M3U8 would make the File List Editor go beyond its intended scope.
(I think support for M3U/M3U8 would only require not to add any missing EFU CSV headers and fields when editing)

You know, and I must say, the File List Editor would make a hell of a fine CSV editor on its own.
But I do understand is not its purpose. Just saying.. :D

Best regards!

I will consider playlist support.

I have put on my TODO list to add importing and exporting as m3u/m3u8.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Great Void!. Consideration is the only thing I could ask for.

If you decide to add this feature, please also consider to add a commented line with the used search string and filters when exporting the Playlist, both in the Everything main app and the File List Editor, something like this:

Code: Select all

#EXTM3U
#EXT-X-EV-SEARCH: -search "d:\ John Coltrane" -filter "[A] Audio"

This opens up a new world of possibilities for creating somewhat dynamic playlists. They can be updated with a script, a scheduled task or a context menu. I don't think a feature like this exists on any player, besides AIMP and Winamp, but even in those programs they have to be running, and it only applies to audio files.

I myself am currently adding that commented info line manually on some exported playlists so I can later use a script to update the playlist from Windows context menus:
