Logfile of ETP Server
Logfile of ETP Server
I believe Everything activates the log file (tools>>options>>ETP Server) in the appdata folder ,default logging enabled for ETP/HTTP Server. But the box is blank giving an impression no file has been designated. On click select it leads to an already existing log file , further clicking tells ,if it needs to be replaced. I think the text file with its full path should be in the box.
Re: Logfile of ETP Server
The empty filename has a special meaning and should not be replaced with actual filename at the time.
This is important for portability and using the %appdata% setting.
Perhaps the actual filename at the time should be shown in the tooltip...
Thanks for the suggestion nagan.

Re: Logfile of ETP Server
Technically that could be a valid point. But anyway if Everything is already recording the event in a file based on the installation parameters , it can mention the file name and the location somewhere. The empty filename has a special meaning and should not be replaced with actual filename at the time.

May I add another request of opening the log files from Everything itself to check upon something rather than use the explorer route...
Re: Logfile of ETP Server
Pressing Select will highlight the current log filename in the open file dialog, you could use right click -> edit here to view the current log.
I will consider an open button to do this automatically..

Re: Logfile of ETP Server
Thanks. Also I thought maybe all the inputs , port, username ,password etc (they need not be greyed?) could be independent of the Enable ETP/FTP server check box tick which mandatorily starts the server first and then takes the input.
The contrast affect perhaps (just a suggestion) could be made for "Enable ETP/FTP Server" which can remain grey if the check box is un ticked.

Re: Logfile of ETP Server
Greying all the options does make it clearer to the user that the ETP/HTTP servers are disabled.
Changing these settings when the ETP/HTTP servers are disabled will have no effect.
I will consider allowing the user to change these settings without the need to enable the servers first.
