First, thank you for this amazing product. I've found it long time ago when Microsoft introduced search which sucked, and still sucks. I am still using this software, and it is one of the first that I download when install any Windows!
My question is, can I exclude files from results that start with "~$" (without quotes)? Those are some hidden duplicated MS Office files that I don't want to see in the results. But I don't want to omit ALL hidden files and folders...
Thanks!
Exclude files starting with ~$ ?
Re: Exclude files starting with ~$ ?
Yes:
- Go to Menu => Tools => Options => Indexes => Exclude
- In the Exclude files field, type
- Press the OK button
- Wait until Everything finishes excluding these files
- Done.

Re: Exclude files starting with ~$ ?
Thank you, it worked. But using that same logic, I want to exclude files starting with "$", and it does not work:
Re: Exclude files starting with ~$ ?
Everything uses semicolon (;) delimited lists.
Please try changing your Excludes files to:
*.lnk;~$*;$*

Re: Exclude files starting with ~$ ?
Unfortunately it still does not work with adding $, but ~$ is fine. Indexes rebuilt.
Re: Exclude files starting with ~$ ?
Add the same filter to your exclude folders:
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Exlucde tab on the left.
- To the right of the exclude folders list, click Add Filter....
- Set the filter to the following and click OK:
$* - Click OK.
