Problem creating a filter for searching in a volume excluded from the Everything filter

Everything version: 1.4.1.1024 (x64)
Also tested with the latest 1.5 alpha version.

I have a backup drive (drive letter: E) that I want to exclude from my search results. To do this, I added !e: to the Search field in the Everything filter, and it works well.

Now, I’d like to create a filter specifically for searching the E: drive, for those occasional times I need to search it. Here’s what I’ve tried:

• I went to Search > Organize Filters
• Created a new filter, added e: in the Search field, and set bk as the Macro field so I can trigger it by typing bk:

The issue is that this filter doesn’t work when I try to trigger it using the Macro. If I select it from the list of filters or use a hotkey, it works just fine, but when I type bk: nothing seems to happen and no results are returned.

I noticed that if I remove !e: from the main Everything filter, I can search the E: drive using the Macro.

What am I missing or doing wrong here? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Your bk: search will not override your !e: filter.

The easiest way to do this is with omit results in Everything 1.5:

• In Everything 1.5, from the Index menu, check Enable Result Omissions.
• From the Index menu, click Organize Result Omissions....
• Click Add Folder....
• Select your E: drive and click OK.
• Click OK.
• Change your bk filter search to:
  no-omit:

Leave your filter set to Everything, your E: drive will now be hidden by default.
Use your bk: macro to temporarily show your E: drive.
