I can't remember if I've mentioned these.
Regarding the Undo History -
* Moving/Copying files by dragging over a .lnk shortcut folder records the .lnk file in the history as the new location but "undo" doesn't work. I think for the history it should decode the .lnk to the folder and record it appropriately, and in turn the Undo should then work.
* Soft deletes (to recycle bin) are recorded in the history, but not hard deletes (shift-delete). Hard deletes are vital too because at times you change your mind about a deletion and you can restore it from a backup if you know what its path was which may not be obvious in retrospect, so recording hard deletes is essential for this, even though they can't specifically be Undone (perhaps someone clicking Undo could instruct the user to recover X files from backup). This issue just happened to me now for example and I'm not sure what the deleted file was since it had a non-linguistic name, without the path I need to run WinMerge against the backup to try to find it

Thanks - now that rings a bell!
But I cannot find anywhere to view it... I looked hard on the menus and dialogs without luck...

Ah - I don't have that menu item at all, and I'm on the latest, 1.5.0.1383a
Ctrl-Shift-I also doesn't run it, although I do have that key assigned to something. Releasing that key and trying again doesn't make it work.
Any ideas why I don't have it...?

The Index Journal item is only available when the Journal is enabled.
To enable the Index Journal:
To enable the Index Journal:
- In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Index tab on the left.
- Check Enable Journal.
- Click OK.

Re: Undo History : Moves to .lnk, Hard Deletes
Ah now I remember the problem.
The Index journal literally includes everything, including all the changes of programs everywhere, so it's one big sea of entries one hasn't been involved with.
The Undo History by contrast is the actions you alone have specifically taken in Everything, which is why it would be useful to find the Hard Deletes included in the Undo History, rather than having to attempt to find them in the Index Journal.

I can see the search will help in that.
What might make the Index journal much more usable would be to be able to set a filter for what gets included in it or excluded, which would only need to be basic elements such as names, paths, extensions rather than a complex formula.

Re: Undo History : Moves to .lnk, Hard Deletes
The next alpha update will resolve the shortcut target.* Moving/Copying files by dragging over a .lnk shortcut folder records the .lnk file in the history as the new location but "undo" doesn't work. I think for the history it should decode the .lnk to the folder and record it appropriately, and in turn the Undo should then work.
Thank you for the issue report.
I will consider an option to add hard deletes to the undo history.* Soft deletes (to recycle bin) are recorded in the history, but not hard deletes (shift-delete).
However, hard deletes cannot be undone.
Thank you for the suggestion.
For now, please try the Index Journal.
