"editable" lines (in the 'path' column)

Post by adamantine »

'name' column: it is possible to select a folder/file, press f2, and select some symbols in a title (to copy them to the clipboard)

it would be convenient to have such a possibility within 'path' column as well

of course there will be some difference:
instead of pressing f2, we will have to click once on a line (in the 'path' column) to make it ready not for renaming but just for selecting and copying some part of a path to the clipboard

You can copy the full path (without filename).
I've assigned F5 to do do that.

And F6 to copy the full name (including path) to the clipboard.
Use both, regularly, for pasting into my file manager.

I can see with or without quotes.
Perhaps with or without a drive letter?

But, picking out only a portion of the path.
Hmm?

the idea is to copy to clipboard just some part of what we see in the 'path' column

there is considerable convenience in this approach because it is possible to get (quickly) necessary part of a path via mouse clicks (almost without using the keyboard)
for instance, after getting necessary part of a path, i may immediately use it by pasting it to the 'search edit' of 'everything search engine'

just take a look at how is it done in foobar. go to:
properties of an item in playlist ---> 'properties' tab ---> location ---> file path
you will see that the 'file path' line is obviously cannot be renamed BUT it can be selected with 1 click, and after that it is possible to select and copy to clipboard any part of a path
