This error occurs when the installer fails to run the installed Everything.exe with user installation options (such as check for update notifications)
Please make sure your virus scanner is not preventing Everything from running as a standard user.

- Download the portable x64 version of Everything
- Unzip Everything.exe to the Desktop
- Move Everything.exe from the Desktop to C:\Program Files\Everything (requires administrative privileges)
- Run Everything.exe
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the General tab on the left.
- Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything
- Check Start Everything on system startup.
- Uncheck Run as administrator.
- Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
- Check Start menu shortcuts
- Check Desktop shortcuts
- Check EFU file association
- Check any other desired installation options.
- Click OK.
- Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
- Restart Everything.

Previous versions would silently fail.
